I have set up a Diet Bet Campaign to start on Wednesday.
What is Diet Bet?
Diet Bet is a website where you bet money against losing weight. Everyone bets $25* (which is slightly less than a dollar a day) which goes in to a “pot”. The more participants, the more money in the pot. If everyone hits their goal, everyone gets their money back. If only a few people hit the goal, those people split the pot.(*There are different entry fees, I picked the lowest one. I didn’t want money to be deter anyone. However, research says that people who bet $35 or more have 30% more success… interesting right?… but I digress)
So for example, if there are 10 participants, the pot would be $250, however if only 4 people hit their goal, those 4 each get $62.50! Hopefully the others have gotten closer to their goal, even if they don’t win money.
The goal is to lose 4% of your body weight in 28 days. Those are the Dietbet Rules, not mine. I wanted to do a 40 day Lent challenge but they only let you choose a game length of one month or 6 months. Conveniently however, starting on the first day of Lent, would end the 28 day challenge on St Patricks Day! So lets all work really hard to hit our 4% goal and celebrate with a victory pint!
Even though I am the game creator, I do not know your weight, or what your personal 4% goal is. It is all private information (unless you choose to make it public). There is an app for iphone and android for easy access to the site. There is a participant group interface (kinda like a facebook set up) where you can share things about your journey with others in the game. (ie, great work out, healthy food ideas, personal achievement for the day, ect) I really hope that any one who signs up will share what is working on your journey. You never know what might help, inspire or motivate someone else. You can also link your DietBet account to other apps you may use, like Fitbit, My Fitness Pal, RunKeeper, Jawbone, ect ect ect
I know the numbers on the scale are not the end all be all, but I personally need a kick in the ass, and I feel this might help motivate me to get back on track. I have a game plan and am ready to get at it!
If you know someone who might be interested, please feel free to pass the information along! Remember, the more people in the game, the more money in the pot!
