What is a Turkey Trot?
A turkey trot is a “fun run” held on, or around, Thanksgiving Day. Per Wikipedia, “Americans anticipate indulgent Thanksgiving feasts and run in turkey trots to burn off calories before the big meal.” I just run them, cause they are fun reason to run Thanksgiving morning, my money goes to a good cause and I usually get a t-shirt!
Turkey Trots have been around for years, the oldest being a 5 mile race, based in Buffalo, NY, which was established in 1896! For this week’s Westchester Wednesday, I thought I’d put some of the local turkey trot races on your radar in hopes you will get out there and do something good for your body and your community!
