My dear Cuff Turtle had to go to the vet today. She had been making some funny noises, sort of like a wheeze/moan. Cuff had to have an X-Ray and received two shots – an antibiotic and a vitamin. Turns out, my baby had the beginnings of a possible pneumonia / respiratory infection. Thankfully, I recognized that she was acting somewhat out of character and took her to get checked out right away. The veterinarian also complemented me on how well taken care of Cuff appeared, and that she was incredibly active and agile for a 13-year-old red-eared slider.
Many people think that having a turtle is weird, and honestly, it is a very uncommon pet in comparison to a dog, cat, or fish. Cuff is definitely unique and can be a bit of a diva. She hates when you tap on the glass of her tank. She does a lot of meditating on top of her dock and if you are being noisy, she will glare at you. In addition, if you shut off her tank light before she is ready to go to bed, she will move the rocks around in her tank all night to keep you up. However, she is adorable in her own ways and has a ton or personality. Plus, she sends out the best Christmas cards. I’m lucky to have such an interesting and unique pet!
