Tough Decisions

As you some of you might remember, I signed up for a half marathon in Philadelphia a few months back. If you don’t, you can read about it here.

I’m sad to report that I will not be attending the half-marathon. I’ve been running all summer, slowly increasing my mileage. I’m not sure if I would be able to run the full 13.1 miles, but I was going to give it my best! Unfortunately, mileage isn’t my problem.

The problem I have encountered is that to spend the weekend in Philly for this race will cost me over $750 for the weekend. That doesn’t include travel costs of getting to Philly or food while I’m there. To go to Philly for a weekend for $750 is incredibly expensive, especially for an unemployed girl like me. I rather spend less than that to go to Disney with my neices and nephew for a full week!

I’ll still be running, I’m in a local 10K in October and was just invited to participate in a relay that D1 and her boyfriend are running (I have to find out more about this race). I’m not going to lie, I am disappointed that I am not going to make it to Philly, but I’m proud of myself that I haven’t given up on the hopes of finishing one. Maybe next year….

  1. Well, I hate that you’re not going to be running in Philadelphia this year, but I think you made the correct decision….just keep moving…you’re doing great!!

  2. I’m sorry you’ll miss this but it is wise to do what is feasible and within your pocket… Other races will come and you’d be better prepared. Keep it up, I’m proud of you! 🙂
