By the time today’s post hits your inbox, Kate Middleton will no longer be one of the masses, but Princess Catherine. She becomes, not only wife and partner to Prince William, but part of the monarchy, and a public figure to be scrutinized by the world for the rest of her life. Just a tiny bit of pressure. Seriously though, Kate seems like a lovely young woman, with a good head on her shoulders and a strong exterior that won’t crack under constant judgement of the public (not to mention her in-laws). Modern technology allows us so much access to the lives of “celebrity”, you have to have a certain personality to deal with it. I don’t know if Princess Diana would have been able to perserve within a society twittering about her 24/7. I like to think, the late Princess will be looking down on Kate and Wills today, wishing a life happiness. I hope the royal couple remembers, when they get beyond all the crazed media blitz and public watch, the most important thing is their happiness together.
I do however want to give a special shout of to Maid of Honor, Pippa Middelton! Way to run up the fun quotient by getting disco balls hung in Buckingham Palace for the after-party! Fighting for the royal couple’s right to party, is the sign of a truly great sister. My sister Ka-Ka, would do that for me. She has already promised that if I ever get married, she would make me a red velvet armadillo cake with grey icing just like the groom’s cake in Steel Magnolias. If Ka-Ka get’s engaged, I am required to order those giant inflatable sumo wrestler suitsfor her bachelorette party. It’s good to have a plan.
